The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.

Dumb, condescending bitch of a supervisor treated me like a child today and embarrassed me in front of customers. Further confirmation that:
a) Looking for a new job is the right thing to do,
b) Taking annual leave for the two weekends around my birthday was a good idea.
Rude customers and coworkers are the last thing I need when I should be happy and celebrating my 21st with people I actually care about.
One of the most comforting thoughts I can think while I’m there is that at least I’m studying to make more of myself and my life than working as a lowly supervisor at a supermarket in one of the shittiest areas of Sydney as a career.
I might be proud, but at least I’m proud of something. You’ve taken pride in becoming nothing.
